A Screen Recorder That Does Not Upload Your Videos
Published 1 November 2026
Most screen recorders save your video to their cloud first. Cool Easy Cut keeps recordings and edits in your browser, and renders the final file there too.
What stays on your machine
- Recordings and edits live in your browser's own storage. There is no account and no cloud library.
- Rendering happens in the browser. There is no cloud rendering step, so nothing is uploaded to produce your MP4.
- Licence checks are done offline against a signature. The only thing fetched from us is a small public list of refunded keys, once a day, with nothing about you in the request.
When data does leave: AI
AI features are optional for tab recordings and required for uploaded videos. If you use them:
- The model you select may be able to see your video, because it receives sampled frames.
- Caption generation sends the audio of the narration or recording to a speech-to-text model.
- Requests go from your browser to the provider you configured, using your own key, and only when you ask for a suggestion or captions.
You can run a model on your own computer, in which case frames do not leave it. Or you can skip AI: record a browser tab and edit and annotate it by hand.
The trade-off
Because nothing is stored in the cloud, removing the extension deletes your recordings with it. Export or save anything you want to keep.
Short version
Record a tab and do not use an AI model, and everything stays private on your machine. Use an AI model and the one you pick may see your video, which is your call. Read the full privacy policy.
